Your City Council is behind a complete waste program and asks for your cooperation and support. Please read this information carefully. Any questions or ideas you may have can be addressed by the Richfield Sanitation employees.

Recycling of plastic jugs, aluminum and tin cans, glass bottles, and newspapers will help to clean up our landfills.

Rubbish Removal

Please put all rubbish out in plastic bags or 30 gallon trash cans not to exceed 50 lbs. All garbage is to be out by 6:00 a.m.

Garbage and recycling, although in separate containers, will be picked up on Friday, unless during a week where a holiday occurs, then service will be on Saturday for that week only One large item will be taken on a weekly basis. Items containing freon (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners) can be called ahead to the Richfield Sanitation office at (989) 658-2594.

Weekly Recycling

Accepted recycling materials must be put in the green recycling bins available at City Hall.

Plastic Jugs - #1 and #2 Plastic Jugs

All plastic jugs are to have caps removed and be washed so they are clean.

The number is found on the bottom of the plastic container inside the recycling arrows. If your container has no number, we do not accept it.

Aluminum & Tin Cans

Aluminum and tin cans should have all labels removed, both ends removed, and should be clean. Many reyclers ask you to crush your cans to help with space in the recycling bin or truck.

Newspapers

Newspapeers should be dry and bundled or stored in paper bags. It is important that no staples are included as much of this pager is ground for bedding.

Please remove all colored inserts.

Do not put out on wet days! All newspaper should be set out only in good weather as wet paper cannot be recycled and must then go to the landfills.

Glass Bottles

We accept clear, brown and green colored bottles. They should be clean with no lids
