Meeting Minutes for July 19, 2004
OFFICIAL COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
JULY 19, 2004
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Harbor Beach was
held on Monday,
July 19, 2004 at City Hall. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 p.m.
by Mayor Ramsey.
Present: Ahrens, Goniewicha, Schelke, Semp and Mayor Ramsey
Finance Officer Youatt
Absent: None
There were no corrections or additions to the agenda.
It was moved by Ahrens, seconded by Goniewicha to approve the minutes
of the July 6, 2004 Council meeting as presented. Motion carried. 5 yeas.
Council reviewed a progress bill from the Michigan Department of Transportation
for the M-25 project in the amount of $ 10,753.75. It was moved by Semp,
seconded by Goniewicha to approve payment of bill as submitted. Motion
carried. 5 yeas.
Mayor Ramsey presented framed copies of Resolution # 2004-16 to Harbor
Beach Fire Department Firefighters Keith Holdwick and Jason Lermont in
recognition of their selection as Michigan Firemens Association, Firefighter
of the Year award.
Citizen Comment: John Bickel, Bartlett Street, thanked Council for paving
the road in front of his residence. Al Kleinknecht, Bartlett Street, thanked
Council for a successful Maritime Festival this year.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: Council reviewed a Telecommunications Right-of-Way permit
application received from Verizon. It was moved by Ahrens, seconded by
Schelke to approve the permit application as presented. Motion carried.

Youatt presented a computer maintenance agreement with MicroTech Services,
Holt, Michigan.
The agreement would be a one-year renewal of the existing agreement at
a cost of $ 1,173.00 for 15 hours of service. Remaining hours on the existing
agreement would be rolled over into the new agreement. It was moved by
Semp, seconded by Goniewicha to approve the agreement as presented and
to authorize the Finance Officer to execute same on behalf of the City.
Motion carried. 6 yeas.

There was no Engineer Report.
Finance Officer Report: The M-25 project remains on schedule as Phase
I was completed prior to Maritime Festival weekend. The Maritime Festival
was successful as there was steady traffic during Friday and Saturday
and a large crowd for the band and fireworks Saturday night. The old Coast
Guard Station demolition project has started with asbestos removal. The
watchtower
(cupola) will be removed soon and placed on a concrete pad near the garage
building.
Council Reports: Positive reports received on the Maritime Festival.
Inquired about status of the Farmers Market. Youatt stated that Zoning
Administrator Willis was handling this and that advertising has been in
the local newspapers. Inquired about two Fitness Center employees no longer
working. Youatt stated that letters of resignation were received.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:48 p.m.
