City of Harbor Beach Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project The city of Harbor Beach recently completed a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project. These pictures show various stages of the project. This project was completed by Insituform Technologies, Lemont, Illinois. Insituform was the low bidder on the project at a cost of $211,803. This project involved the re-lining of approximately 3,320 lineal feet of 8 inch diameter sewer main, 1,040 lineal feet of 12 inch diameter sewer main, 1,190 lineal feet of 15 inch diameter sewer main, and 472 lineal feet of 18 inch diameter sewer main. The locations of the sewer main rehabilitation project included the alley located between Nelson Street and Ferris Street, alley between Feris Street and Whitecomb Street, and western portion of Barlett Street, M25 from the downtown intersection north to Industrial Drive and also a portion of Wood Street. Completion of this project greatly improves the City's sanitory sewer infrastructure. The benefit to the City in completing this project is that it will greatly reduce the amount of storm water entering the sanitary sewer system, thereby reducing the amount of "clean" water that is treated needlessly at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This will eventually reduce operation costs at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. In addition, completion of this project greatly improves the City's overall infrastructure, which will allow the City to be in a position to see positive growth. Any questions regarding this project can be directed to Tom Youatt, Finance Officer/Clerk at 479-3363. The City is proud to have the best infrastructure of any community out size in the state!!
