Special Note
We held a meeting on March 24 at City Hall with the distribution operators
for the communities supplied by the Harbor Beach plant. The primary focus
of the meeting was to discuss emergency actions and to present a draft
of the plant's contingency plan. Attending the meeting in addition to
the operators from Harbor Beach, Port Hope, Sand Beach Township, Huron
Township, and Forestville were Tom Youatt and Tom Wood (City of Harbor
Beach), Wade Mazure and Jim Kucharczyk (Sand Beach Township), and Steve
Ashford (District Engineer MDEQ). We discussed the contingency plan, reviewed
the prepared phone tree for emergencies, and provided an update on the
alarm dailer at the plant. We reached an agreement on the methods to notify
the public via specific radio stations, television cable channel, and
phone messaging. We added these to the contingency plan. Everyone agreed
that good communication is the key to protecting our communities and providing
them the best service possible. The group also committing themselves to
meeting on a regular basis to better attain these goals. |
