The world's greatest man-made harbor provides great fishing opportunities from aboard a boat, or from the break wall. Trescott Park is an access site for the new Tip of the Thumb Heritage Water Trail, a 90 mile trail along Lake Huron's coast line.

City Celebrates Lighthouse Transfer

Harbor Beach LighthouseReserve Saturday, July 31st.....The Harbor Beach Lighthouse FINALLY and officially belongs to the City of Harbor Beach. After a dedicated effort for twenty plus years, the federal government has deeded the lighthouse to the city. Come celebrate with a chicken bbq and picnic on the beach, live music, remarks from visiting dignitaries and maritime speakers in the theatre. The festivities begin at 11am under the tent and continue until 4pm. The maritime speakers include Dennis Hale, the sole survivor of the sinking of the Daniel J. Morell and Ric Mixter on Saving the Lighthouses. Saturday, July 31st will also mark the debut of the Harbor Beach Lighthouse tours. If you have never been, or even if you have, join us for the first public offering of tours of our lighthouse. It's an experience all Harbor Beach shouldn't miss...the breathtaking view and historic ambiance are unequaled in this area. Tour guides will enhance the experience with their knowledge...and don't forget to ask questions!

Harbor Beach Wins Region 5 Nomination in League Competition

City’s Maritime Festival Now in Running for Statewide Community Excellence Award

MARLETTE, Michigan (May 24, 2010) - A community festival that draws thousands of people to Michigan’s thumb each summer, has won a nomination for the Michigan Municipal League’s Community Excellence Award.

The City of Harbor Beach, located in Michigan’s thumb off Lake Huron, won the peer-selected honor for its annual Maritime Festival. It will now compete for the statewide community excellence award that will be announced during the Michigan Municipal League’s Annual Convention Sept. 21-24, 2010, in Dearborn. Harbor Beach was selected May 21 during the League’s Region 5 Education Seminar that took place in Marlette, Michigan.
